Equity
Equity is the only Trade Union to represent artists from across the entire spectrum of arts and entertainment. Formed in 1930 by a group of West End performers, Equity quickly spread to encompass the whole range of professional entertainment and its membership includes actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, stage managers, theatre directors and designers, variety and circus artists, television and radio presenters, walk-on and supporting artists, stunt performers and directors and theatre fight directors. Although a Trade Union, Equity is not politically affiliated and so does not make payments to any political party. This puts Equity in the strong position of being able to lobby with impunity. It is affiliated to the Trades Unions Congress and Equity delegates attend the annual TUC conference as a means of bringing performers' issues to a wider audience.
The main function of Equity is to negotiate minimum terms and conditions of employment throughout the entire world of entertainment and to endeavour to ensure these take account of social and economic changes. Its looks to the future as well, negotiating agreements to embrace the new and emerging technologies which affect performers so satellite, digital television, new media are all covered. In addition it operates at an international level through the Federation of International Artists which Equity helped to establish, the International Committee for Artistic Freedom and through agreements with sister unions overseas.
In addition to these core activities, Equity strives to provide a wide range of services for members and so they are eligible for many benefits including a job information service and contract vetting. They also provide legal and welfare advice, royalties collection services, advice on copyright and insurance services.

Image Network
The Image Network (TIN) is a not-for-profit business learning network for people producing and using images. It is run by the University of Westminster, and aims to help businesses make profitable use of developments in digital imaging.
TIN run courses and networking seminars and provide free information on digital imaging and related business topics on the site.
The Image Network draws on resources from all parts of the image and publishing industry. People working in different sectors have much to learn from each other. TIN aims to promote that interchange in an environment geared to learning rather than selling. Events focus on imaging and associated issues and marketing, copyright and other business and legal issues are addressed alongside technical topics.
Information and events are aimed at managers and staff alike. Managers need to understand the latest technology in order to make good business decisions, while staff on the ground need to learn techniques to work productively and to quality standards.

Photofusion
Photofusion is London's largest independent photography resource centre.
We are unique for the breadth of our work and services, providing access to a full range of facilities including contemporary gallery space, darkrooms, studio, digital imaging training, picture library, agency and ongoing photo-art education programme for professional, student and amateur photographers.
Situated in the vibrant heart of Brixton, Photofusion's photo-digital facilities continue to draw visitors into an exciting and rapidly changing area. As Brixton's most prestigious gallery space, our exhibitions alone are expected this year to attract 30,000 visitors. Founded in 1984 as the Photo Co-op, Photofusion has metamorphosed from a small collective of documentary photographers through a number of identities through successful fundraising campaigns, to become a leading resource for photographic artists. In recognition of this role, we receive regular funding from Arts Council London, and consolidate this grant with income from our commercial activities.
Photofusion aims to promote a ladder of educational opportunity through courses, workshops and seminars. We are moving increasingly into the field of training for disenchanted young people who may have been alienated by formal education, and are working in collaboration with a number of community and arts organisations to help people access arts training and gain skills for the workplace.
Photofusion's position as a leading photography resource necessitates a close relationship with the development of digital media in order to offer artists the best possible facilities for innovative arts production. Photofusion now offers expanded digital and darkroom facilities and improved disability access.
