About CreativeCapital
Established in 2001, CreativeCapital helps London–based artists and people working in the creative and cultural industries source the latest information on continuing professional development (CPD).
We are a network of organisations providing advice and support across a diversity of art forms. Whether you are an artist, practitioner, creative business or arts professional, we can point you in the right direction to continue developing your skills.
We share knowledge and promote best practice, keeping a focus on life long learning.
We are particularly interested in promoting cultural diversity and making opportunities accessible and inclusive.
Our aim is to help artists and creative professionals enrich their practices, careers and skills at each stage of their development.
What is professional development?
Continuing professional development (CPD) comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and helps people at all stages of their careers to expand their skills, knowledge and opportunities. It includes:
- information, advice and guidance
- seminars and training
- business support
- research and publications
- conferences, away-days, retreats and summer schools
- funding for professional development
- mentoring and coaching
- apprenticeships / fellowships and other work-based learning
- networking opportunities, peer support and artist-led projects.
Visit our Events page for the latest professional development events and opportunities in London.
CreativeCapital Board
CreativeCapital Board membership is voluntary and directors are voted on at the Annual General Meeting. Our current board of directors is:
- Elizabeth Cameron, Market Development Manager, Crafts Council
- Elizabeth has worked across a diverse range of organisations in a developmental and / or regeneration role. Most recently she has focussed on the economic development of sectors and cities. This has included working with partners from public, private and the charity sectors.
- Alison Coward, Director, Bracket
- Alison has worked in management positions for organisations such as Hidden Art, Contemporary Applied Arts and the Enterprise Centre for the Creative Arts (ECCA) supporting the development of enterprise skills in creative practitioners. Her work includes developing and managing membership programmes, event management, strategic programme management, business planning and development. Alison has an MA in Enterprise and Management for the Creative Arts.
- Monique Deletant, Akademi- South Asian Dance UK
- Monique worked for an MP, a Non Departmental Public Body and the Civil Service before moving into the arts. She has worked for Theatre Resource and now holds a post at Akademi - South Asian Dance UK, both of which offer continuing professional development advice and courses. She has also advised a number of artists on funding applications and administrative matters.
- Sally Lai, Chinese Arts Centre
- Sally brings a breadth of experience which includes supporting visual artists’ professional development informally and through formal programmes, commissioning, curating and critical writing. She has a good understanding of international practice and an awareness of the cultural landscape particularly in Asia. Sally has supported the Arts Council London in the past as a cultural diversity advisor, and following her Clore fellowship became Chief Executive of Chinese Arts Centre. Sally sees the benefits of professional development having followed the Clore Leadership Programme, and the way networks naturally continue after interventions such as the CLP.
CreativeCapital is funded by the Learning Revolution Transformation Fund to deliver CreativeCapital: Widening the Scope, a community engagement project based in four London boroughs: Barking & Dagenham, Croydon, Haringey and Harrow.

CreativeCapital would like to thank Arts Council England London for its generous financial support.
